BACK ON TRACK AFTER DROUGHT AND FIRE EVENTS

After a challenging time of unprecedented drought and bushfire taking its toll across our region, many producers are now looking to regroup and rebuild their businesses on the back of recent rainfall. The expertise of the North Coast Local Land Services is readily accessible and available to assist.

North Coast Local Land Services has a series of events planned aimed at assisting livestock producers.  These events will examine opportunities in markets, encourage a re-think on business as usual and help landowners make decisions when rebuilding their business.

In the interest of public safety, the ‘Back on Track’ series will be offered as a virtual event. While our region is currently considered low-risk for Covid-19, the health and wellbeing of our community is a priority.

Local Land Service Staff will provide support and advice on; pest animal control, animal health, agricultural production, forward planning, management of native vegetation and improving natural assets on farms for long term profitability and sustainability.

To help examine opportunities, North Coast Local Land Services has called on one of the best minds in the business, Simon Quilty, who will discuss global livestock markets and what this might mean for North Coast livestock producers.

Simon has extensively researched the factors that drive livestock prices higher over many years. He has just returned from a research tour of North America, meeting key industry stakeholders. He will discuss global demand and supply factors including coronavirus, African Swine Fever and competitor trade agreements - and outline how these will impact future Australian livestock prices and present his forecasts for the next three years.
