Feral Fighters prepare for autumn campaign

Local Land Services biosecurity teams across the South East are preparing members of the Feral Fighters program for the upcoming autumn fox baiting campaign.

The campaign will see local Feral Fighters groups coordinating their efforts across multiple holdings to cover as much ground as possible.

This is a good opportunity to remind land managers that managing pest animals is not just something for producers to worry about. We need all rural land managers to be aware that they have a responsibility to manage pests on their properties, and to know that we are here to help them do that.

There are a number of upcoming training events planned across the region, so we encourage any land manager whose accreditation has expired, or who is keen to get involved with group control measures, to come along.

The training and a limited supply of 1080 baits, is provided free of charge to land managers who join the Feral Fighters program.

The program is a group control program which now has over 2,000 members across the South East. Funded by the Australian Government’s National Landcare Program, Feral Fighters brings local communities and neighbours together for coordinated and targeted campaigns at key times of the year, like autumn and spring.
