Annual Land and Stock Returns help protect producers and communities

Local Land Services is requesting the help of South East land managers to maintain the state’s capacity to respond to emergencies by completing their Annual Land and Stock Return by 31 August 2019.

This information is invaluable in the event of a disease outbreak or emergency situation. Combined with Australia’s stock identification and traceability systems, it is an essential part of NSW biosecurity management.

Land managers without stock still need to lodge a return, as this is also important information during emergencies.

“Effective animal biosecurity and welfare is insurance to maintain market access for livestock producers,” said South East Local Land Services General Manager, Anthony Marshall.

“NSW produce is free of many of the pests and diseases found in other parts of the world.

“That is why Local Land Services works with land managers to monitor livestock and share up-to-date advice and information to increase productivity.”

Land managers need to record their livestock numbers on 30 June and send to Local Land Services via post or online.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to remind land managers that while the NSW Government has waived LLS rates for next year, the Annual Land and Stock Return is still an important tool for us to know where animals are so we can respond in times of need”.
