Biosecurity Update

May 2020

Important info about pest animal management

Due to the social distancing requirements during the Covid-19 crisis, there are a few changes you need to be aware of when it comes to managing pests at your place.

The Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has changed accreditation periods for landholders and LLS staff who require accreditation to manage pest animals.

Have you already completed the AQF 3 or VPIT training, but your accreditation has expired?

If your accreditation expired after 1 March this year (2020) it can be extended to 21 October 2020 as per the latest EPA chemical accreditation exemptions. If it expired before 1 March, you’ll need to complete accreditation training again.

We’re developing an online VPIT course as we can’t host you for our usual training right now. If you’d like to be notified when this is available, please register your interest by calling your nearest office on 1300 795 299.

Your Local Land Services biosecurity team can also help with a contactless bait service and are available to discuss how to get the most out of pest management activity.
