Landcare muster

The South East region Landcare community recently gathered at The National Theatre in Braidwood for the 2021 Landcare Muster. This annual event is co-hosted by South East Landcare and South East Local Land Services. The Muster provides an opportunity for connection, sharing, collaboration and inspiration for Landcare volunteers, coordinators and partners working with Landcare groups across the region.

The 45 attendees were welcomed to Country by Uncle Owen, Chair of the South East Elders Group. The day featured a celebration of the accomplishments of Landcare across environmental, agricultural, recovery and community projects.

In her comments to the group South East Local Land Services Board Chair, Fay Steward acknowledged the significance of the Muster beyond just the outcomes of funded on the ground projects

"The Muster is a great opportunity to celebrate the people who contribute so much passion, energy, knowledge, experience and leadership to our landscapes and the groups and communities that support it".

Landcare is a community-led movement of like-minded volunteers who work together to deliver positive environmental, agricultural and community outcomes at the local level. The NSW Landcare Program supports Landcare through coordinators based locally who work with passionate volunteers to deliver positive outcomes.

We were pleased to have present representatives of the South East Local Land Services Board, the NSW Landcare Program team, volunteers from numerous local Landcare groups from Illawarra and Boorowa to the north and the Far South Coast and Monaro, Landcare coordinators, staff from Local Land Services and other partner organisations.
