New Natural Capital Advisor for the Hunter supports farmers better manage natural capital

Farmers and land managers in the Hunter can now access new, independent guidance and support to incorporate opportunities in natural capital markets and management into their farm business. This Local Land Services initiative is designed to increase productivity, improve biodiversity and protect market access.

Julia Emerson has been appointed by Local Land Services as the Natural Capital Advisor for the Hunter region. She is dedicated to helping farmers identify ways to improve their natural capital, and be rewarded this, including helping to understand the benefits and potential risks of participating in environmental markets.

Julia brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role and she is ready to share her experience with our farming community.

Julia said, “There are so many benefits to landholders through recognising, improving and managing their natural assets– diversify income streams, mitigate impacts of drought and flood, market opportunities and improve environmental functions. We’ll advise, you decide.”

As part of its new Natural Capital Program, Local Land Services is hosting a series of engaging Natural Capital Conversation events across the Hunter region. These events are designed for landholders looking to increase the value of their land’s natural assets whilst improving productivity and managing, restoring and protecting the environment.

Upcoming events will feature expert speakers, practical workshops and valuable networking opportunities with farmers who are leading the way in natural capital.

  • Lower Hunter, 6 September
  • Upper Hunter, 13 September
  • Manning, 20 September

Julia will be available at each event to provide insights and answer questions on how to find the right opportunities, connect with other trusted advisors and make the best decisions for your property.
