Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area

Work in the Greater Blue Mountains world heritage area is a continuing focus in the Central Tablelands and Hunter regions. Its more than one million hectares comprises 7 national parks and one conservation reserve.

We are working with NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service, land managers, First Nations communities, species experts and community groups to protect and enhance species and landscapes within the parkland and border areas.

The work includes: threat management, such as invasive pests and weeds; mitigation of heavy tourism impacts; river bank and waterway restoration; soil stabilisation; appropriate fire/burning programs; and protecting and enhancing species, their habitats and refuges.

This project is funded by the Australian Government's Natural Heritage Trust.

More details about the project will be coming soon. To find out the latest news and advice for your region, subscribe to one of our newsletters.
