Threatened Ecological Communities On Farms

Threatened ecological communities (TECs) on farms is a focus in Central West region with a priority focus on box gum and grey box grassy woodlands. The work is important because there are only around 5% of these woodlands remaining in Australia. They preserve hundreds of diverse plant species and provide habitat for native fauna, including critically endangered species.

This project aims to increase the quality and extent of these woodlands within the region. The small purple-pea habitat will also benefit from this work.

We are working with private landholders, species experts and community groups to preserve these ecological communities.

This project is funded by the Australian Government's Natural Heritage Trust.

More details about the work in Central West will be coming soon. In the meantime, you can read about our work so far to preserve grey box grassy woodland and the small purple-pea in this region, and box gum grassy woodland in other NSW regions.
